Category: tea
Quick take: above average
Best item: peach oolong

There is no shortage of tea shops in Southern California, and to be quite honest it is tough for any particular shop to stand out. Chun Yang does clock in above average, which is saying a lot. We ordered a peach oolong tea with less ice and 30% sugar ($5.79), and a cold red bean latte with oatmilk ($6.49). The latte has a fixed sweetness and ice level, and oatmilk was not extra 😁.

The red bean latte (left) was not too sweet, which is a surprise considering we were not able to specify the sweetness level. It had a good tea flavor; however, the liquid to bean ratio was heavy on the bean side.

The peach oolong still had quite a bit of ice, and the sweetness red higher than 30% in our opinion, but it had really good peachy flavor. For the fruit at the bottom it seemed like canned peaches.

Ratings:
Hipster 1 (peach oolong): 7.8/10
Hipster 2 (red bean latte): 7/10 – would score higher if it had more liquid.
