Category: Chinese dumpling house
Quick take: great price, solid food
Best item: dumplings

We were cruising around the San Gabriel Valley, when we got hungry and started craving dumplings. Luyu Dumpling is a hole in the wall spot, that was slightly difficult to locate. The service was friendly and the restaurant itself was tiny; all good omens.

I was assured that these vegetarian dumplings ($10.50 for 12) were in fact vegan, and from the looks of it that is accurate. The skin is not too thick, chewy and cooked perfectly. As you can see in the picture the filling is mostly vegetables and wood ear fungus with no faux meat.

Of course we had to get scallion pancakes ($6.80), which were flaky. However, they were on the thin side and lacked a bit of seasoning.

Last but not least was the cucumber salad ($4.80), which was crispy, garlicky, and refreshing. Perfect counter balance to the rest of the meal.
